About Us

Originally chartered in 1936, Compass Financial Federal Credit Union is a non-profit cooperative organized to provide our members with low-cost financial services. We are governed by a volunteer board of directors who are elected by and from the membership. Membership to the Credit Union is restricted to employees of our field of membership, and family of current members.

All profits of the credit union are returned to our members in the form of dividends and low cost loans. We strive to meet the needs of our membership by providing new products and services that meet your expectations, thereby becoming your primary financial institution.

How are Credit Unions Different than Banks?

There has been a lot of discussion in the press recently about credit unions, as a result of the recent lawsuits that banks filed, and lost, against the credit union movement. Many people, however, do not understand what a credit union really is, and how it differs from a bank. A credit union is different than a bank in that it is:
